30 days and Counting!

Another sneak peek just for you! The card today, With Heartfelt Sympathy, features a new In-Color, Baked Brown Sugar (lighter brown).  It looks fabulous with Early Espresso.  Also new is the Very Vintage Designer Button! I love embellishments!  The new Designer Series Paper, in the background, is called Soho Subway.  I will be sharing more projects later in the week with other patterns in the paper pack.

A Month of Sneak Peeks!

It is a month until the new 2013-2014 Stampin' Up! Catalog comes out.  However, over the next 31 days I will be post projects that use some of the new products SU! has to offer.

Today I would like to start by sharing with you a Friends Forever card showcasing two of SU!'s new In-Colors, Crisp Cantaloupe (peachy color) and Pistachio Pudding (minty green color).  In addition, this card showcases stamps from two of the new hostess sets, Banner Greetings and Simply Sketched.

Be sure to check back to see more sneak peeks!

2013-2014 Color Refresh

In 2010, when SU! did their big color renovation they shared their plans for smaller color refreshes every three to five years to keep their colors on trend.

Well, it has been three years and they are excited to announce that the upcoming 2013– 2014 annual catalog will include 10 new colors (most of which are returning In Colors® from previous years)!

How does your garden grow?

There are many great new stamps, tools, and embellishments in the Holiday Catalog so I don't know where to begin.  Since I am not in the Halloween, Thanksgiving, or Christmas mood YET, I will start with the probably one of my favorite stamp sets that SU! has ever offered.  The stamp set is Perfectly Preserved and it is the most versatile jar, fruit, and flower set I have used in a long time.  What makes it even better are the framelits dies that compliment the stamp set.  That's right, you don't have to cut out, by hand, any of the images! Love, Love!  SU! even offers you 15% off if buy both the dies and stamp set.

Below are two similar cards I created with the stamp set and the framelits dies.  One is more visually clean while the other has a more vintage feel.  I was inspired by the card sample on page 29 of the Holiday Catalog. These cards use many new items from this catalog.

Stamp Set: Perfectly Preserved
Framelits Dies: Window Frames Collection, Cannery Set, and Bitty Banners
Ink: Early Espresso, Lucky Limeade, Raspberry Ripple
Paper: Whisper White CS, Lucky Limeade CS, Island Indigo CS, More Mustard CS, Orchard Harvest DSP
Embellishments: Linen Thread

The 2012-2013 Stampin' Up! Catalog

Hello Stampers!

It’s that time of year again… the launch of a new SU! catalog.  This year’s catalog is about 40 pages smaller but offers a wide range of stamps to choose from.  A larger mini catalog will come out this August full of holiday sets guaranteed to please!

SU! has also redesigned their stamp pads.  With the release of the new catalog they are introducing their new firm foam stamp pad! A few things to note: the firm foam is nice and flat and will not become wavy, it is soft and has a nice bounce to it, and the ink lay-down (how the ink is absorbed into the card stock) is even, not blotchy, and dries quickly. It has an increased opacity and stamps solid images beautifully.

There are more Framelits and Edgelits to make your crafting tasks easier.  I hope you enjoy looking over the catalog as much as I have.  My favorite set… A Cherry on Top – page 201!!! Can’t wait to hear which sets you have fallen for.

Happy Stamping,
           Heather Howe

It's Teacher Appreciation Week!

This week is Teacher Appreciation Week and I created these cute little gift card holders for my children's teachers.  And who wouldn't like a gift card to Wawa?  Many thanks to all the teachers who work so hard everyday to educate our youth.
SU!'s Petite Pocket XL Die (#123131) makes creating a gift card holder so simple. It's a perfect fit!

Masculine May Contest

It's contest time!!! To all the ladies on my mailing list: all you have to do is create a project (a card, a scrapbook page, or a 3-D project) incorporating the products I have given you. You must use at least one of the three postage stamp pieces of cardstock. You must also use the baker’s twine and the piece of Nautical Expedition DSP you have been given. You must use a part of these products but not necessarily the entire product I have given. For example, you may only need a 2x2 square of the DSP for your card. You may add any other embellishments you need to complete your project. You MAY use non-SU! products. You can use any tools (paper piercer, punch, crimper, etc.) to complete your project. All I ask is that you submit original work.

After you create your project email me a picture of it. I will post the picture on my blog site for everyone to enjoy. I will post contest entries as they come in. I will give you credit for your work by including your name and hometown under the picture of your work. On May 31st I will draw a name from those who have participated and that stamper will win a Classic Stampin’ Pad (any color).

What do you have to lose? Nothing! Everyone will finish this contest with a newly completely project to share. One lucky stamper will get a Classic Stampin’ Pad of their choosing for FREE.

Not on my mailing list and want to be, email me at howe6@verizon.net.

Because I Care - Stamp Camp Card

I just love the simplicity of this card!
Materials:
Stamp Sets - Because I Care(hostess), Tiny Tags (#118091)
Paper- Pretty in Pink cardstock, Lap of Luxery DSP (#120436), Basic Gray cardstock, Very Vanilla cardstock
Ink - Basic Gray, Pretty in Pink
Ribbon - 5/8" Basic Gray Satin Ribbon
Bigz Dies - Two Tags (#115954)
Punch - 1 3/8" Circle Large (#44)
and last - Antique Brads (#117273) - one of my all-time favorite embellishments!!

Just For You - Tissue Paper Technique

Materials:
Stamp Set - Just Believe (#116948)
Paper - Garden Green textured cardstock, Rose Red textured cardstock, Whisper White cardstock
Ink - Graden Green, Rose Red
Ribbon - 1/2" Rose Red Seam Binding Ribbon
Punch - Large Oval (#42), Scallop Oval Extra-Large (#19)
Other SU! material - Linen Thread, Cherry Cobbler Designer Button
Others - white tissue paper

Tissue Techique -
I first stamped the large floral image, from the Just Believe stamp set, on whisper white cardstock. Then I applied 2-way glue to the edges of the cardstock and around the image. (I tried not to touch the inked image for fear of smearing the image.) I then careful placed a piece of white tissue paper over the cardstock smoothing out the paper as I layed it down. I used a piece of tissue paper a little large than the cardstock. I did not measure because I found it is easier to trim the tissue paper off rather than cut the paper to exact measurements without tearing it. I then stamped an image on top of the tissue paper with Graden Green. I love the effect! Hope you like it too.

Thanks for stopping by!

Happy Easter Blossoms - Stamp Camp

Materials:
Stamp Set - Easter Blossoms (#121905)
Paper - Very Vanilla, Soft Suede, Baja Breeze
Ink - Soft Suede and Baja Breeze
Ribbon - 1/2" Baja Breeze Seam Binding Ribbon
Punch - Decorative Label (#120907)
Embosslits - Beautiful Wings
Jewels - Basic Pearls

Scrunch Technique -
To scrunch up the ribbon:
1. Fray one of the ends of the ribbon.
2. Find a piece of thread traveling lengthwise down the ribbon.
3. Now pull. Adjust the scrunched part you are creating, as you pull, pushing the ribbon along to get the desired affect.
